SARAH MCLACHLAN FOUNDATION

Sparked by the influence of music in her life, Sarah McLachlan had dreamed for a long-time of opening a free music school for inner-city youth.  In 2002 that dream became a reality when The Sarah McLachlan Foundation partnered with Arts Umbrella to open its first free music school in Vancouver’s inner city – The Sarah McLachlan Music Outreach – An Arts Umbrella Project.

Focused on excellence, students receive high quality music instruction in guitar, piano, percussion and choir.  The school is dedicated to helping young people find their voice.  It’s a nurturing environment that encourages students to achieve, to explore their creative potential and to develop a sense of community that will inspire them to succeed in life.
